Our Park is situated on the beachfront at Carters Beach, Westport. Seal Colony TOP 10 Holiday Park is the ideal base to explore the West Coast's breathtaking scenery, the famous Fur Seal Colony at Cape Foulwind and experience the rich heritage at the many historic mining sites nearby.

Attractions

SEAL COLONY
A high quality short track takes you from Tauranga Bay to the viewing platforms that overlook the Seal Colony. A safe but close view allows you to watch the seals swimming, lazing in the sun and feeding their young pups. Information boards and picnic facilities are dotted around the walkway. This part of the track has been designed specifically for wheelchair access.  From the viewing platforms the walkway stretches to Cape Foulwind along the picturesque coastline.  This section of the track is mostly well formed however some steep areas may require caution. Enjoy the spectacular coastal scenery and explore the rugged coast line at Cape Foulwind and Tauranga Bay.

UNDER WORLD ADVENTURES
Under World Rafting - Enjoy a Cave Rafting Adventure in the Paparoa National Park.  Take the Rain Forest Train to the Nile River GlowWorm Caves.  Experience the sight, sound and feel of another world and have fun tubing down the gentle rapids of The Nile River.  Suitable for 10 years and over reasonable walking fitness and water confidence required.  Departs 2-3 times daily, allow 4 hours. GlowWorm Cave Tour - View an ancient wonderland of stalactites, stalagmites and galaxies of GlowWorms. This is one of the few caves in the world that you can walk through and experience in its natural unspoilt state.  Suitable for all who are able to walk unassisted on uneven surfaces.  Departs 2-3 times daily, allow 3.5 hours. COALTOWN MUSEUM
Live the history at the Coaltown Museum where history unfolds and the past meets the present. Coaltown brings to life the history, the hardship, the joys and struggles of the settlers of the Buller District. Take a journey through the past of the Buller District with displays on Coal Mining, Gold mining, Maritime, Brewery and Timber Milling. Open 7 days 9am - 4.30pm October to April, 10am - 4pm May to September.  After hours groups by arrangement. TOP 10 Membership welcome here.
Cost: $5-$12 per person.
OUTWEST TOURS
Tour Solid Energy's Stockton Opencast Mine site on the Stockton Plateau in fully air-conditioned Unimogs.  Experience the history of the old mining towns on this unique off road adventure as it climbs to the plateau.  Visitors should bring picnic lunch (no alcohol), sturdy footwear (no sandals, jandals or exposed feet) Allow 5-6 hours.  Bookings essential.

THE DENNISTON EXPERIENCE

Underground Union Experience - Take a step back in time and explore an historic 1880s coal mine. Enjoy a fully guided tour incorporating a train ride, a unique underground walking tour around interactive mining displays, and a ghostly hologram story. Take a short walk to the station where you board a narrow gauge train and journey along the dramatic Waimangaroa Gorge. Deep inside the mine, you explore the old coal workings with the re-created sights and sounds of the mine. Test your pioneering spirit: swinging banjos and clipping coal tubs. Approximately 45 minutes underground. Suitable for those 5 years and over. Must be able to walk unassisted for 1/2 hour; part of walk is graded. Tour duration 2 hours. Limited seats, booking essential.

Getting There

Seal Colony TOP 10 is located on the beachfront at Carters Beach just 4km from the main township of Westport.

When approaching Westport on State Highway 67 turn left at the junction onto State Highway 67A and drive 3.5kms to Carters Beach.  Follow the Holiday Park signs and turn right into Tasman Street, Carters Beach and then left at Marine Parade.  Seal Colony TOP 10 Holiday Park is located 300m from Marine Parade/Tasman Street intersection.
