Location
Russell is in the heart of the Bay of Islands, the finest maritime Park in New Zealand, located on the East Coast of Northland at the top of the North Island.
Attractions
Based in Russell and you can make your first activity a visit to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, where the treaty was signed in 1840. The heritage gardens, with magnificent lawns overlooking the fabulous Bay of Islands are well worth a visit. Discover the relationship between Maori society, lore and legend, and our natural environment. On display is one of the world's largest ceremonial war canoes. It takes more than 70 paddlers to get it up to speed. If golf is your passion why not enjoy a round or two at the Waitangi golf course, with its stunning ocean views?
Venture out on the sparkling Bay of Island waters with a Fuller’s Bay of Island Cruise, or visit Matauri Bay – a spectacular, sheltered bay with white sandy beach and home to the wreck of the Rainbow Warrior.

Enjoy subtropical Wharepuke Gardens, which have been designated a Garden of National Significance and the Parrot Place, which is home to numerous colourful and exotic parrots from around the world.
