Location
Omarama TOP 10 is situated on State Highway 8 between Queenstown and Aoraki/Mt Cook in the Waitaki district of the South Island of New Zealand.
Omarama is famous for its unique atmospheric conditions that make it an ideal location for gliding, especially the famous Nor’West wave. Omarama is Maori for ‘place of light’.
Attractions
Omarama Gilding Club, Aoraki/Mt Cook (New Zealand’s highest mountain) is close by as are the dramatic Clay Cliffs outcrops, Clay Cliffs Winery (New Zealand’s highest altitude winery), Lake Ohau forest, Benmore power station and the airfield for gliding is just minutes away. Waitaki Valley.
