The West Coast Wildlife Centre, home to New Zealand's rarest species of Kiwi, the Rowi. Franz Josef Village is lucky to have this centre where kiwi chicks are hatched and nurtured until they are old enough to survive in the wild. Guests are able to visit the kiw house where they will see Kiwi birds up close. Throughout the summer, guests can also sign up to the 'backstage tour' to meet the recently hatched kiwi chicks at feeding time.
