The Origins of Old Cromwell Town Historic Precint.
In 1990 Lake Dunstan was formed to store water for the Clyde Hydro Dam. The lake flooded the main street of the original township of Cromwell which dated back to the gold rush of the 1860:s Some of the historic buildings from the precint were saved, dismantled and rebuilt on the new site of Old Crowell Town Precint. This Precint seeks to preserve the unique living record of the heritage of Cromwell for generations to come. The historic precint is on the shores of lake dunstan and can be found by following the map on the back of the brochure. The Argus Newspaper office on Main Street has a display of information on the old town and there is a free self-guide map there for your walk around. You are welcome to walk into the museum buildings and to visit the working Artisans and shops around this area. Old Cromwell has authentis stone buildings, a mud brick cottage, the London Stables. It is situated on abeautiful lake side setting.There is art work in metal, local artists works and cafes to enjoy the edible delights.
The Cromwell golf course sits comfortably on land similar to that of the famous Melbourne belt. The combination of the expansive rolling dunes of the front nine and the more traditional tree lined nature of the back make for an endlessly interesting golf experience. Cromwell is a course that will challenge golfers of all abilities.

The Spectacular Shotover River Canyons. The Original. The historic Kawarau Bridge is home of bungy pioneers. AJ HACKETT and Henryvan Aschs first commercial bungy site started in 1988. 43m above the Kawarau river, it is still the most popular in NZ. Free jump t-shirt. Cafe and gift shop on site.

Getting There
Arriving from Alexandra or the Lindis Pass via State Highway 8, turn onto State Highway 8B crossing Deadmans Point Bridge over Lake Dunstan. We are the first turn on the left, 200m along Alpha Street to the Park entrance.
Arriving from Queenstown and Wanaka while travelling on State Highway 6, turn onto State Highway 8B passing the fruit sculpture on your right. Continue on for 2 kms past Freeway Orchard, then take the next turn on the right into Alpha Street. Travel 200m along to the Park entrance.
From the Cromwell Mall turn right onto Barry Avenue, left onto Neplusultra Street, the continue down past the golf course to the end of the road. Turn left onto Alpha Street and travel 300m to the Park entrance.
