The Origins of Old Cromwell Town Historic Precint.

In 1990 Lake Dunstan was formed to store water for the Clyde Hydro Dam. The lake flooded the main street of the original township of Cromwell which dated back to the gold rush of the 1860:s Some of the historic buildings from the precint were saved, dismantled and rebuilt on the new site of Old Crowell Town Precint. This Precint seeks to preserve the unique living record  of the heritage of Cromwell for generations to come. The historic precint is on the shores of lake dunstan and can be found by following the map on the back of the brochure. The Argus Newspaper office on Main Street has a display of information on the old town and there is a free self-guide map there for your walk around. You are welcome to walk into the museum buildings and to visit the working Artisans and shops around this area. Old Cromwell has authentis stone buildings, a mud brick cottage, the London Stables. It is situated on abeautiful lake side setting.There is art work in metal,  local artists works and cafes to enjoy the edible delights.

The Cromwell golf course sits comfortably on land similar to that of the famous Melbourne belt. The combination of the expansive rolling dunes of the front nine and the more traditional tree lined nature  of the back make for an endlessly interesting golf experience. Cromwell is a course that will challenge golfers of all abilities.

The golf course offers electric carts, trundlers, practice facilities. and the hire of golf clubs. They have a full range of golfing accessories at the golf shop, lessons as a group or an individual can be organised.  Club House facilities - Bar and cafe operating on clubdays or by prior arrangement.  .Evening meals served at weekends and holiday periods.

Garden Nursery,Lavender Farm and Still room.  An Aromic Central Otago Garden. 
Informal rooms enclosed by trees, clipped hedging and stone walls within an historic setting.  Plants seen growing in the nursery can be bought, ie Lavendars, herbs, old roses and perrinials.  The lavendar paddock produces oil and dried lavendar bunches for sale in the Still Room.

Open five days a week, closed Monday and Tuesday from October-March. Briar dell is opening a shop in Old Cromwell Town which will be open 7 days a week from the 17/11/10.

Get dressed in camoflaged gear, get a gun, sneak around our pines, seek your targets, get them first beford they get you.  Play bushball or shanty town-60 shops, 2 streets,alleyways. Urban warfare at its best.  There is no age limit but children must be accompanied by adults. Open 7 days a week , daylight-dusk.  There is a shooting gallery to show off your skills, 14 games that can be played eg defend the fort, capture the flag, hummer down etc. Specials are ongoing.

 The Original.  The historic Kawarau Bridge is home of bungy pioneers.  AJ HACKETT and Henryvan Aschs first commercial bungy site started in 1988.  43m above the Kawarau river, it is still the most popular in NZ. Free jump t-shirt.  Cafe and gift shop on site.

The highest - 134 metres.  Austalasias highest bungy.  8.5 seconds of freefall.  Enjoy the fresh mountain air while you get harnessed up and take our cable car out to the jump pod.

The Ledge bungy is located at the top of the Skyline Gondola. It is 400 m above Queenstown.  Night jumps, Harness jumps, twist flip and dive. 1 hr round trip.  Free jump t-shirt.
