Location
Akaroa TOP 10 is situated 90 minutes drive South-East from Christchurch on Banks Peninsula in the South Island of New Zealand. The French colonial village sits on a stunning harbour in an extinct volcano.
Attractions
A multitude of fine dining options and café culture permeates the relaxed village centre, many with sublime views. As Canterbury’s oldest colonial settlement there is a huge amount of history to be uncovered. It is also a significant place for local Maori and Onuku Marae is only 5 minutes drive from the village centre.
Activities
Drive to one of the many sheltered bays of Banks Peninsula, sailing on the harbour, swimming with the Hector’s Dolphins, wineries, local cheeses, harbour cruises, eco tours, heritage trails and walks, the Banks Peninsula track is a stunning 3-4 day coastal walk.
