Over the last six weeks, people around New Zealand have been following developments surrounding the stranding of container ship the Rena on the Astrolabe reef outside of Tauranga.
The fuel oil leaking from the Rena onto the pristine beaches around the region was fortunately limited to a narrow stretch of coastline. All of the oil has now been successfully pumped from the fuel tanks and a massive clean up effort by 6000 volunteers has seen local beaches returned to their normal state in record time.
It is very much business as usual, with only a few days when small globules of oil washed onshore at Papamoa. All traces are now gone, and the beautiful white sandy beach is ready and waiting for holidaymakers taking time out over the summer months.
TOP 10 Papamoa Beach owners are celebrating the fact that this potential environmental disaster has been averted, by offering some very special deals on accommodation over the next month at the resort.
Check the TOP 10 deals box on the homepage of the site to book. Deals run from 10% – 50% discount, depending on how many days you book to stay at Papamoa.
